Robin Ruth’s Student Design League (SDL) Project held its inaugural campus spirit competition on the campus of Auburn University in the Consumer and Design Sciences (CADS) department in the fall of 2015. The purpose was for students to design apparel and the community would vote on winning design(s). Winner(s) would have an opportunity to win an internship at Robin Ruth USA retail corporate office in New York and proceeds from the sale of the apparel in the two-part prize package.
I submitted three digital illustrations to this competition, ultimately becoming one of the four finalists to make it to the final round. One of my three designs won the popular vote, allowing it to proceed into production along with a couple other students’ work, thus winning the internship.
After selling hats, bags, and tshirts for the upcoming football season in fall of 2016, I ultimately won the grand prize of proceeds from the sales in spring of 2017.
