hello march

Happy beginning of a new month and Women’s History Month! Since late last year, I started making these mood boards to highlight the direction that I aim to take for the month. Call it setting the mood, if you will (lol). I usually post them on TikTok, but I have started posting them on my Instagram as well.

However, I wanted to highlight some of the trends that I am feeling for this month:

+plastic, whimsical beads

+hair adornments

+craftivism

+naming the self

+Black art

+bright colors

+renewed positive mindsets

+pushing forward

I grew up in the Y2K era and distinctively remember all of the brightly colored things: from Paul Frank baby tees to the mini butterfly clips that I used to dress my hair up with and the plastic jewelry and beads that I loved seeing. Lately these things have crossed my mind, while I recall how important play was back then.  Play plays such an integral role in reducing our stress levels and anxiety levels.  I feel that as we became adults, the weight of life overshadowed the sheer importance of keeping up this practice. Whether we color, frolic, game, participate in sports, or whatever, we can’t deny how therapeutic it can be.

As I reflect on what role playing has in my life, will you join me in reimagining what it means for you?
